((( EVENT ))) HOTT LAVA: An Avant-Garde Cinema Event!
HOTT LAVA is a night of experimental film straddling the avant-garde & the trashy, showcasing the work of contemporary filmmakers as well as classic underground films otherwise sequestered to low-grade bootlegs & academic archives. Each event consists of a cherry picked selection of short films followed by a live musical performance by artists of note.
FRIDAY, JUNE 26 will feature film titans such as KEN JACOBS and TAKAHIKO IIMURA as well as current filmmakers like TRAVIS GALLOWAY and MARTHA COLBURN. DAVID DANIELL & DOUGLAS MCCOMBS of THRILL JOCKEY RECORDS will perform.
PAST filmmakers include Stan Brakhage, Scott Bartlett, Corey Michael Smithson, Martin Thoburn, and Irving Klaw among others. Past performers include BENOIT PIOULARD and WINDY WEBER.
TICKETS are $10 in advance, available at both State Theatre & Wazoo Records after June 15, and $13 at the door. Ann Arbor Film Festival members pay only $10 at the door.
